" Amanda, what do you think you are---" Gloria couldn't complete her statement as Amanda covered her mouth with her hand indicating silence. With her free hand, she pointed at their parents door. Gloria quietly approached the door, fixing her gaze on Amanda. She placed her ear on the door, likewise Amanda.
" They are not going anywhere" Dad maintained.
" What is it with you and strictness anyway?" mum countered.
" For Christsake, these girls are just teenagers. Barely 17. Dont you get anything?" Dad knew exactly how to drive a point.
" And thats the more reason why you should let them live their stage. You practically control everything about them. You drop them off to school everyday and you bring them home after school. You drive them to the supermarket and you do their shoppings for them. Make-up is a taboo" Mum was evidently angry.
" Yes. Thats because am a better parent".
" Nonsense." Mum waved a hand and continued. " Hasn't it ever occurred to you that all they want is to be girls? These things you do for them are what their friends do by themselves. You have no idea how embarrassing it feels. Now let me tell you this if you dont know. You are making the lives of our daughters unbearable."
" If thats the way you see it, then fine".
" No o. Thats not just the way i see it. They're my girls and i was once like them."
" Oh yea! Like I dont know what you were"
" EDWARDS!" she had tears in her eyes.
